'Pather Panchali' is recognized as the best Indian movie of all time.


Bengali movie 'Pather Panchali' has been recognized as the best Indian film of all time. Iconic movie Pather Panchali produced by Satyajit Ray.

On October 21, the world famous film produced by legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray was recognized as the best Indian film of all time by the International Federation of Film Critics.


The special list was released on Thursday by Fipreski-India division. The list was prepared by the votes of 30 members of the organization. 10 movies have been featured in it. Of these, five are Hindi, three Bengali, one Malayalam and one Kannada language films. No movies from popular industries Tamil and Telugu made it to the list.

This film has the number one slot among the top 10 films in the history of Indian cinema. According to a press release issued by the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESKY)-India, the initiative was conducted in secret. Pather Panchali starred Subir Banerjee, Kanu Banerjee, Karuna Banerjee, Uma Dasgupta, Pinaki Sengupta and Chunibala Devi.

 Produced by the West Bengal government and directed by Satyajit Ray, this released film is still iconic in the minds of Bengalis. Based on Bibhutibhushan Banerjee's novel Pather Panchali, this film is the first film directed by Satyajit Ray. In Pather Panchali, the film revolves around the childhood of the main character Apu and depicts the life of a remote village in 1920s Bengal. However, the journey of making this film was not smooth at all.

It is known that due to the problem of necessary funds, the production of this film was interrupted and it was completed after three long years.
